The Soul of Spring

By Amy koo

Heavy winter hearts

Begin to thaw with spring,

Relinquishing the burdens of the past season.

.

The wind blows

Fresh, crisp air

Filling my soul

With life.

.

Walking on the cool dewed grass,

A robin’s song decorates the silence

As it sings atop trees

Adorned with emerald buds of green.

The thawing lake reflects

Iris and white lilies and daffodils that sprung from the ground.

Cherry blossoms and wisterias sway their branches and bloom

As dandelions take off into the wind and fly,

Floating everywhere,

And dropping like snow,

Filling my vision.

.

With eyes closed,

Troubles forgotten,

Heart light,

Living in the moment

Of Spring.
